- Hameed Ali said all Nigerians must work hard in order to earn a living - According to Ali, manna does not fall from heaven The comptroller general of Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, has said that only lazy Nigerians will complain of hunger under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration. Ali who led members of the Buhari Support Organisation to a meeting with the president on Tuesday, May 22, said the present administration has made a landmark of achievements in the agricultural sector. He warned the Nigerian populace that "manna does not fall down from Nigeria" as one must work hard to earn a living. Ali said: “What more can we say in terms of growth of wealth? People say we are hungry. Of course, the lazy must be hungry because if you do not work hard, manna doesn’t fall from heaven
“So, when people say we are hungry, there was never a time in Nigeria that food was dropped in the mouth of the people and there can never be," Ali said. He further informed the president that Nigerians are behind him in his ambition to run for second term as the president of the country.
The customs boss said: “All we want to say on behalf of Nigerians is that we are solidly behind you in this second term bid."
“I have said it and I will repeat it here, Mr. President, with all due respect, at 70 plus, with good retirement benefits and with your house in Daura, if I were you, I will see no reason to be in this arena. “But why are you here? It is because you love this great country. You left your comfort to serve Nigeria and that is why those of us who love you for who you are must follow you and ensure that your second term in this country becomes a reality," he said. He added that the present administration led by President Buhari has brought enormous change to the country and that Nigeria has grown because of the discipline the President had instilled in the financial sector. He said corruption has been nipped in the bud as nonchalant attitudes by public office holder are no longer witnessed across the country.
